We teach you to slowly brush your baby’s teeth
Most parents do not even think about when to teach their child to brush their teeth. And they begin to acquaint the child with a brush almost from 3-4 years old, counting. That special teeth are not needed for milk teeth – they will fall out soon anyway … But any dentist will refute this myth. Care for the baby’s teeth is necessary from the moment they appear, i.e. from the moment of their appearance, and this is from about 6-8 months.
The first teeth should be cleaned with a special terry or silicone fingertip (in children’s stores they are not a problem), if it is not at hand, then a cotton wool wound on your finger will come down. Small teeth are cleaned naturally without paste, as this is enough to remove plaque. When your baby has more teeth, it is worth considering the purchase of a toothbrush. In specialized children’s stores or pharmacies, as a rule, a large selection of baby brushes, starting from any age – from one, two, three years, etc. How to choose the right brush for your baby?
It is advisable to purchase the very first brush without bristles, and with small silicone “pimples”. Such a brush will less injure delicate baby gums. As you grow older, the size of the brush needs to be changed according to age.
Somewhere up to 2-3 years, parents brush their teeth, so it’s better to choose a volume brush, slightly elongated, designed for an adult’s brush. As soon as the baby shows a desire to independently clean his teeth, you need to choose a brush with a short and thick handle, so that it is convenient for him to hold it.
The head of the baby brush itself should be small and slightly rounded. Such a brush is easier to control in the mouth, which means that cleaning will be better. The bristles should be soft and necessarily artificial, because in natural materials bacteria easily multiply. The height of the bristles should not exceed 11 mm. Ideally, if the bristles are multi-level, i.e. to be located higher – lower. With such a brush it will be easier to get to the most difficult interdental spaces.
Well, an important factor when choosing a brush is its aesthetic appearance. It should be bright and beautiful, so that brushing your teeth gives the baby pleasure. The sooner you instill in your child the habit of brushing his teeth in the morning and in the evening, the more natural it will be for him in the future. Well, your own example plays a big role, because little men like to repeat everything after adults, thereby learning the world.
Keep the toothbrush in a dry glass, head up. Between cleansing, you can soap the brush with baby soap, not forgetting to wash it off before cleaning, this method is used to prevent the development of microbes. Before first use (new brush), rinse with running water. You can’t boil the brushes, as it will melt. You need to change the brush once every 2-3 months (this also applies to adults), since even with the most thorough treatment, microbes remain.
Finally, I want to say that the brush must be bought in specialized stores and only in sealed packaging.
Happy shopping and healthy teeth!
